Centre for contemporary Art
The Centre for Contemporary Art is based in the Department of Art & Fashion at the University of Central Lancashire and is the home base for a large group of research projects initiated by the Fine Art team led by Lubaina Himid, Professor of Contemporary Art. We aim to create an environment in which practice based dialogue and theoretical discussion around visual histories combines with strategies for creative intervention which can then impact upon the everyday. Through a series of collaborative events, cross disciplinary projects, print and paperwork displays, screenings, illustrated talks and work in progress exhibitions by invited artists we aim to generate and exchange knowledge while being accessible to the widest possible range of scholars.

CAN is creating a friendly, supportive network of artists representing a diversity of work. We aim to expand the opportunities for artists to develop their practice and make high quality work, and through increasing access to our work, encourage greater public appreciation and enjoyment of visual arts.
Edinburgh print studio
Established in 1967 as the first open access studio in Britain, Edinburgh Printmakers is dedicated to the promotion of contemporary printmaking practice. It achieves this by providing, maintaining and staffing a free of charge gallery and inexpensive open access print studio. This is where members of the public can use equipment and source technical expertise to enable them to develop their printmaking skills.

Artist/printmaker The connection between thought, language and communication are central to my practice. I’m interested in how language affects our cultural identity and allows a sense of belonging. In my practice I work with sound and moving image building a new reality or narrative. I like to connect the traditional printmaking process with new technologies such as digital audio, so that elements of sound and moving image flow back and feed into the works on paper.
Making histories visible
Making Histories Visible is an interdisciplinary visual art research project based in the Centre for Contemporary Art (School of Creative and Performing Arts) at the University of Central Lancashire. We are building on the success of our distinct areas of international excellence in contemporary art research. The project is led by Lubaina Himid Professor of Contemporary Art and is supported by Susan Walsh Research Fellow.
Regional Print Centre Wrexham
The Regional Print Centre at Yale College offers an exciting open access facility for everyone to enjoy the art of printmaking. Set up jointly by Yale College and the Arts Council of Wales, the Centre offers courses and demonstrations for those who are new to printmaking, as well as professional development for more experienced printmakers and artists.
The Print Studio at The Bluecoat
With a forty year history of printmaking on site, the Bluecoat has reopened its Print Studio to the public. The Studio is clean, safe, light and airy, and now specialises in non-toxic printmaking tecniques.
